Welcome. This quick guide shows how to set up and start using your FIDO2 security key for secure login and second factor authentication.
1. Plug in the Key
Insert the USB-A FIDO2 key into any available USB-A port on your computer.
The device works on Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS with no drivers needed.
2. Register the Key on Your Account
You can add the key on most services under Security or Account Settings.
Typical menu:
Account Settings → Security → Two Factor Authentication → Add Security Key
When asked:
Select Security Key.
Touch the key sensor when prompted.
Give the key a friendly name.
3. Use the Key to Sign In
When logging in:
Enter your username and password.
The service will ask for your security key.
Touch the key to confirm.
The process takes only a few seconds.
4. Use on Multiple Services
You can register the same key with different platforms:
Google
Microsoft
GitHub
AWS
Facebook
Twitter / X
Password managers
Any WebAuthn compatible service
5. Using the Backup Key (Optional)
Most services allow you to add more than one FIDO2 key.
We recommend registering a second key as a backup so you do not lose access.
6. If the Key Is Not Detected
Try the following:
Reinsert the key
Try another USB port
Ensure the site supports FIDO2 or WebAuthn
Check that browser is up to date (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari)
7. Privacy and Security Notes
Your FIDO2 key stores no personal data.
It does not track, sync or upload anything.
All operations are performed locally on the key.
